Nearly a year ago, we had engineered hardwood flooring from California Classics installed throughout the entire main floor of our home, and we truly could not love them more. We chose the Mediterranean Collection in the color Cannes, and the color has been absolutely perfect for our space, especially with our existing granite fireplace surround. One of the biggest reasons we selected this particular flooring was the quality and construction. The 4mm sawn veneer top layer was among the thickest wear layers we could find in a luxury wide-plank engineered hardwood. The floors also feature an ultra-low-gloss aluminum oxide-enhanced Valspar urethane finish with 8 coats of protection, which gives them a beautiful natural look while still feeling durable and practical for everyday life. The 8" wide, 75" long planks completely transformed the feel of our 2005 home into something much more modern and transitional. These floors are also wire-brushed, giving them a subtle texture and lived-in character. I wasn’t completely sure at first how I would feel about that finish, but I’ve ended up loving it. It adds warmth and dimension, and even better, they clean beautifully. We can vacuum and mop them with no issues. I use my Dyson stick vacuum with the hard floor attachment and it’s been fantastic—no scratching at all and it picks everything up easily. Functionally, they have held up very well for us. We do have a two-year-old cat who regularly gets the zoomies (IYKYK), and on a couple occasions his claws have managed to leave light scratches when he hit the floor just right. That said, it has only happened once or twice despite his daily racetrack routines around the house! We also use several Ruggables throughout the home for added protection. Like most hardwood flooring, these can dent if something heavy or sharp falls hard enough. A steel tripod once fell out of my closet and left a small dent, though thankfully it is not very noticeable. Overall, we are absolutely obsessed with these floors. They completely transformed our home, and I would wholeheartedly recommend them to anyone looking for a high-quality engineered hardwood with a beautiful modern yet timeless look. I should also add we live in a very dry climate and they survived well after our first super dry winter! We had them glued down too, by the way.
This color we just installed this week and we love how beautiful and timeless it looks in this 100 year old home.
